Current fees
What a green burial costs at Elk Falls.
The City of Campbell River sets its cemetery fees in a public schedule. The figures below are the fees that take effect on 1 January 2026, before tax.
The green burial plot
A full green burial: three City charges.
In the Natural Burial (Green) Section, a full green burial is made up of a grave-space charge, a Care Fund contribution, and the opening & closing (interment) charge.
| Charge | Resident | Non-resident |
|---|---|---|
| Grave space (preparation & placement) | $987 | $1,237 |
| Care Fund contribution | $296 | $371 |
| Opening & closing (interment) | $1,402 | $1,402 |
| Total, before tax | $2,685 | $3,010 |
A resident is, broadly, an owner of property in the City, or someone who had lived in the City for at least six continuous months before their death. If you buy the plot ahead of time without the burial, the pre-need “space only” amount (grave space + Care Fund) is $1,283 resident / $1,608 non-resident.
Figures from the City of Campbell River Cemetery Management Bylaw No. 3733, Schedule C (Grave Space table, effective 1 January 2026), cross-checked against Interment Licence Form CCR 2026/01; in the 2026 schedule these green-section figures match the standard Adult Lot. The City’s current fees are also published in the 2026 Fees and Charges Bylaw, and the Cemetery Management Bylaw and interment information are on the City cemeteries page.

City of Campbell River Cemetery Management Bylaw No. 3733, Schedule C (Memorials, Additional Fees and Services tables, effective 1 January 2026), cross-checked against Interment Licence Form CCR 2026/01. See also the 2026 Fees and Charges Bylaw.
Reading the fees
A few things to know.
- The City publishes fee schedules dated 1 January 2024, 2026 and 2028; the fees step up over time, so always check the current year.
- Fees in the bylaw schedule are stated before tax. GST of 5% is added; grave liners (which are not used in green burial) are noted as attracting GST and PST.
- Payment in full is required at the time the interment agreement is entered into.
All figures should be checked visually against the City’s own published documents before anyone relies on them. Two points to resolve: whether GST applies to the Care Fund contribution, and a small arithmetic inconsistency on the 2026 interment licence (a non-resident “with tax” grave-space figure that does not match a straight 5% of the pre-tax amount). A distinct fee for a witnessed green-burial service, and the short-notice administrative fee, are referred to in the bylaw but were not isolated in the fee tables.
